History:

In 1932 Elmer Lueck Of the Fort Snelling Veterans Hospital spoke to the U. S. Veterans Bureau in Salt Lake City and asked that all Radiographers in the Salt Lake area should get in touch with him to work on the creation of a chapter of the Utah Society of Radiographers in association with the American Society of Radiographers.

In January of 1933 the Utah Society of Radiographers was born with Elmer Lueck President of the Utah organization with 14 members, thus becoming the 24th affiliate under the American Association.

By 1938 the name of the organization had changed to the Utah Society of X-Ray Technicians to reflect the name change of the American organizations.

In 1949 the U. S. Treasury Department issued the Utah Society of X-Ray Technicians a non-profit organization status. Later the name would change to the Utah Society of Radiologic Technologist.

Mission:

The Society is an organization whose mission is to lead and serve its members, the healthcare profession and the public on all the issues affecting the Radiologic sciences.

The purpose of the society is to:

  • Promote quality patient care.
  • Strengthen Professional standards by supporting legislative activities and healthcare initiatives.
  • Support the professional development for Radiologic Technologist in all areas of the Radiologic sciences.
  • Uphold the profession’s code of ethics to increase the profession’s reputation.
  • Foster relationships with healthcare institutions, physicians and professionals with mutual interests Advocate unity within the Radiologic sciences.
